This weekend the North American Handmade Bicycle Show took place at the Sacramento Convention Center. I attended the event with some friends. There were a lot of custom creations on hand from a bunch of different builders. We saw carbon, steel, aluminum and titanium. All finely crafted examples of bikes ready tear up the track and the trails. Some bikes looked like they could be your everyday best friend, others were ready for a cross-country long haul, and some, well some, looked more like works of art than something you would ride everyday. I ran across this desktop wallpaper the other day and I thought some of you might enjoy it. The wallpaper features one of the riders from the Astana Pro Cycling Team. I don't recognize the rider from the image. Perhaps it's Vincenzo Nibali, I'm not sure. Regardless, it's a cool desktop wallpaper. Residents living in Sacramento county can register their bicycles using the Sacramento Police Departments free online registration website called Ride On!
On Saturday October 17, 2015 several EGCC members took part in the Foxy's Fall Century ride outside Davis, CA. Foxy's is a great event that's always well organized. It's an enjoyable route on backroads though orchards and farms around Winters, CA. We didn't take on the metric or the full century rides this year. We opted for the 50k ride, although some of us vowed to ride the metric century in 2016... myself included. (more…)
